Despite the Credit Crunch, the Major Chains are Investing in Japan

International Luxury Chains as well as the budget Citidines Hotels, continue to open new hotels from Tokyo to Okinawa, while Park Hyatt offers new Tokyo Massage to guests

New to Japan is the Citadines-brand service residence which recently opened a 160-unit Citidines Tokyo Shinjuku, jointly owned by Ascott and Mitsubishi Estate Ltd. The InterContinetal Hotels Group has just announced the launch of two new co-branded resorts in Okinawa, The Park Hyatt is introducing a new, exclusive Tokyo Massage Therapy, and The Fujiya Hotel due to celebrate its 130th Anniversary has upgraded many of its rooms.

Citidines Tokyo Shinjuku in Japan

The Citidines Tokyo Shinjuku serviced residence is centrally located in trendy Shinjuku, near to the Shinjuku Gyoen and Shinjuku 3-chome subway stations. Visitors can enjoy shopping, dining and sight-seeing at nearby shopping malls, and strolling in the Shinjuku National Garden known for its cherry blossom and its history as an Imperial Garden. At night the entertainment centre is a lively spot and its restaurants deservedly popular.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts Now in Okinawa

Inter-Con has launched two new co-branded resorts to join its other four hotels in Japan. The new hotels are in Okinawa, the ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort and ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort. These are the first international luxury resorts located in culture rich Okinawa and stand in exceptionally scenic spots.

Centres where guests can select various activities are a feature of both resorts which have Resort Concierges to recommend authentic activities and experiences. With each “insider experience” guests will discover Okinawa’s secret locations so that they will have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in its various locales.

There will be over 100 activities, including more than 40 marine activities at the hotels, and various others within the locales available.

ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort

This is a deluxe low rise hotel with all rooms and suites having views from private balconies, is located at the most scenic point of Manza-mo. With 42 Premier Floor rooms out of a total of 399, the hotel has all the facilities for a perfect holiday or for doing business in comfort. It has a tropical outdoor pool, five restaurants, three bars, 24-hour room service, karaoke rooms, a cabin cruiser and a glass bottom boat, plus water sports including parasailing, wake-boarding, a diving centre, a putter golf course and a tennis court.

InterContiniental ANA Ishigaki Resort, Ishigaki

The sister ANA-Intercontinental Ishigaki Resort is a high-rise resort hotel located on the coast of the city of Shitake, the business centre of the Yaeyama archipelago. The facilities are aimed at the business and leisure traveller alike. The area is located on the same latitude as Miami and Honolulu giving mild winters and good all year round temperatures.

The Hotel is located just in front of Maestro beach and has 255 rooms including 99 premier floor rooms, seven restaurants, two pools, spa, golf, tennis and a wedding chapel.

Park Hyatt’s New Tokyo Massage

The Park Hyatt Tokyo’s Club on the Park has introduced a new type of body treatment, the Tokyo Massage, which aims to offer guests the best of Tokyo. The massage incorporates the natural essence of the four distinctive seasons with Japanese massage techniques, Shiatsu and Swedish techniques, and takes 90 minutes. Oils authentic to Japan capture the benefits of the treatment.
