Marriott International is set to open in Japan. In April of this year, Tokyo will see the opening of the Courtyard by Marriott Tokyo Ginza Hotel. The former Renaissance Tokyo Hotel Ginza Tobu is to be transformed into what Marriott calls “the hotel designed for business travellers by business travellers,” in keeping with other Courtyard properties.
The hotel is being extensively refurbished at the moment. Prior to the property changing names the lobby, lobby lounge and two floors of guestrooms will be renovated and a fitness centre added. After the "soft opening" in April, further renovation and refurbishment will take place, and the remainder of the hotel will get new amenities such as a concierge desk, chapel, barber/beauty shop and changing room for wedding parties will be added.
It is hoped that with the changing requirements of Japanese and international business travellers, the introduction of the Marriott Courtyard brand into Japan will be a huge success. The Courtyard brand has been rolled out in many countries now and it has been found that a high standard of guestrooms and a high standard of amenities in the rooms are what most guests ask for - especially in the moderate sector.
"Our Courtyard guests want their accommodations to be enough like home to provide comfort, security and escape while also enabling them to stay on top of their work requirements and to have easy access to connectivity," said a spokesman for the company.
